- Q: Why should I participate?
- A: This research offers you what most studies do not– immediate survey results designed to help your school and teachers reach goals like improving math curriculum, instruction, and assessment; tracking performance against standards; identifying professional development needs; and engaging in open, objective dialogue about teaching.
- Q: How do I benefit from this?
- A: All individual participants will receive gift certificates, redeemable online, as well as survey reports showing the content of a teacher's instruction and practice and comparing that to other groups of teachers, state standards, and state assessments.
- Principals who complete a What Makes School Work paper survey this year (you will be contacted if we need that information from you) will receive a $30 Barnes and Noble gift certificate, redeemable online.
- Teachers who complete the SEC online will receive a $50 Barnes and Noble gift certificate, also redeemable online.
- School contacts who return teacher (and, as needed, class) rosters will receive a $100 Barnes & Noble gift certificate, and an additional $100 if more than 80% of your school's math teachers complete surveys.
- Schools will receive access to free professional development webinars or regional workshops related to the SEC.
- Q: When will I receive my gift certificate?
- A: You will receive your gift certificate within 30 days after you submit your completed online survey.
- Q: When will the professional development webinars or regional workshops take place?
- A: If at least 80% of the teachers at your school complete the SEC, your school will receive an email outlining the professional development opportunities available to you.
- Q: How much does the professional development cost?
- A: While we ask your school to cover travel expenses, the webinars and regional workshops will be free of charge.
