- Q: What are Surveys of Enacted Curriculum (SEC)?
- A: The SEC are confidential, online teacher questionnaires that 1) collect information about what and how math teachers teach in your school, and 2) generate reports so you can "see" your school's patterns of instruction compared with state standards and assessment results. Click here for details.
- Q: Are the SEC confidential?
- A: Yes. SEC data never report teacher names and are never used for teacher evaluation. Individual teacher responses are disclosed only to the teacher. All feedback is protected from disclosure by federal statute. All responses that relate to or describe identifiable characteristics of individuals may be used only for statistical purposes and may not be disclosed, or used, in identifiable form for any other purpose, unless otherwise compelled by law. Please see the document entitled ' Research Data Confidentiality Policy & Procedures' for more detailed information about how we protect your data.
- Q: How long does it take to complete the SEC online?
- A: About 1-2 hours.
- Q: What do the SEC reports show?
- A: SEC reports show the content of a teacher's instruction and practice in several graphical formats so that you can compare results to other groups of teachers, state standards, and state assessments.
- Q: Why are you using the SEC this year?
- A: Two reasons: the SEC gives us new information for understanding what makes schools work, and the SEC gives you immediate reports for understanding what makes your school and classroom work.
- Q:What period of time do teachers report on?
- A:If teachers are taking the survey before March 1st, they should report on the previous entire school year. If it is after March 1st, they should report on the current school year.
- Q:When is the data available if our teachers take the survey online?
- A:Data is available online immediately after a teacher completes the survey.
- Q:How many teachers need to take the survey so an administrator can view results?
- A:In order to view data, there must be 3 or more teachers in a group. The website is set up this way to maintain our confidentiality agreement with teachers.
