Overview of School Contact Procedures

How can we help?

As your school's contact person, we will need 6–8 hours of your time spread out between now and the end of your academic school year. To thank you for your time, we will give you a $100 Barnes and Noble Booksellers gift certificate. If at least 80% of your school's eligible teachers complete a survey, we will double the value of the gift certificate and your school will receive access to professional develop webinars and workshops related to the survey.

Listed below are the steps that you will follow as a contact for this year's study.

  1. Teacher Roster File– You will complete a Teacher Roster File, which MM will email to you. This file asks for each teacher's name, grades taught, and e-mail address. There is also a column on the roster for you to indicate if a teacher teaches math. While we are collecting information about all teachers, only math teachers are eligible to take the survey this year. Please complete this file as soon as possible and e-mail it to your account manager at Mountain Measurement.
  2. Test E-mail– Once your account manager has processed the Teacher Roster File, (s)he will send a test e-mail message to all of the teachers and principal(s) in your school. If any e-mail test messages are returned as undeliverable, your account manager will ask you to collect corrected email addresses. If all of the e–mail test messages are returned as undeliverable, then your account manager will ask you to put him(her) in touch with your computer system administrator in order to resolve any technical issues.
  3. SEC Training– Coordinating and/or participating in a brief training session that provides an overview of the survey process.
  4. Survey Invitation– Your account manager will e-mail a survey invitation and instructions to all of the eligible math teachers in your school sometime in the spring of 2009. You will be notified when this invitation goes out. Please encourage the teachers to take the survey anytime within two weeks of receiving their invitation.
  5. Follow-Up Phone Call– Approximately two weeks after your account manager sends out the survey invitations to your faculty, (s)he will call you with your school's participation rate. If less than 80% of your teachers have taken the survey, your account manager will provide ideas on how to boost your school's participation rate.
  6. Principal Surveys– For some schools, principals will be asked to complete a WMSW survey. This will be a paper survey that your account manager will mail to you or your principal with a return envelope. Please return the completed survey at your earliest convenience.
