Thank you for your interest in the What Makes Schools Work research study. Information about the first phase of this study can be found here. This year's phase of the study uses the Surveys of the Enacted Curriculum (SEC) to look at what math teachers (grades 2-8) teach, how they teach it, and how that aligns with state standards and assessments.
Why Should Your School Participate?
This research offers you what most studies do not - immediate reports designed to encourage and inform your school improvement efforts.
With the user-friendly SEC data tool, you will be able to:
- Look at the aggregated content of your teachers' mathematics instruction and their instructional practices. (Individual teacher responses are disclosed only to the teacher.)
- Compare teachers in your school to other schools in your district, state, and across the nation.
- Compare your teachers' mathematics instruction to state standards and assessments and national standards such as the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
- Compare teachers across grade levels (if you have at least three teachers at each grade level).
