Thank you for your interest in the What Makes Schools Work research study. Information about the first phase of this study can be found here. The next phase of the study uses the Surveys of the Enacted Curriculum (SEC) to look at what teachers teach, how they teach it, and how mathematics instruction is aligned to state standards and assessments.
Why should I participate in this study?
This research offers you what most studies do not immediate reports designed to encourage you in your work.
When you complete a Survey of Enacted Curriculum, you will have an opportunity to:
- Examine the alignment between your course content, classroom practices, and state assessment standards
- Understand how your course content and instructional practices impact student achievement
- See how your classroom practices align with state content standards
- Immediately access your online survey results (see an example)
As a token of our appreciation, all teachers that complete the survey will receive a $50 Barnes and Noble Booksellers gift certificate. The following linked documents will give you more information:
A representative from Mountain Measurement, a research firm administering the survey, will contact you to invite you to participate. If you have any questions about the study in the meantime, please call Mountain Measurement at (800) 745-6142.
